Rajah & Tann wins work life award for the 4th consecutive time

Rajah & Tann’s policy of making sure its employees maintain work-life harmony has again received recognition. The firm has won an "Achiever" award in the 2014 Work Life Excellence Awards by the Tripartite Committee on Work-Life Strategy announced at today’s gala dinner and award presentation ceremony.

This is Rajah & Tann’s fourth consecutive win in the biennial Awards which is a national initiative supported by employer organisations, the labour union movement and the Ministry of Manpower. It recognises excellence in work-life strategies that effectively maximise employee performance while helping them maintain work-life integration.

Over the years, Rajah and Tann has developed various strategies to improve work life integration to enable greater sustainability for the firm’s employees in the workplace. As a measure of the firm’s commitment to helping employees’ welfare at work, the firm has invested in a programme on health and wellness for its lawyers and staff. For example, the firm had organised 33 talks and 10 different types of wellness classes ranging from pilates, yoga, zumba, bokwa, circuit training, body combat, fun aerobics and body sculpting. Rajah & Tann believes that these activities plus the firm’s open culture will increase employee engagement, loyalty and cultivate positive work atmosphere within the organisation.

In addition, the firm implemented a committee to review employees’ interests and travel arrangements. This resulted with the firm’s participation in LTA’s Travel Smart Programme where the firm’s employees enjoyed free rides to work before 8am while the firm provides free breakfast as part of this incentive.

The firm is open to consider flexible work arrangements to improve productivity at work and assist employees in managing their personal responsibilities.

Deputy Managing Partner Patrick Ang said: “We believe that any business that wishes to retain talent and stay competitive must ensure that its staff stays motivated and productive. At Rajah & Tann, we have a culture that allows our people to work hard and play just as hard. We are pleased that the Tripartite Committee on Work-Life Strategy has again lauded Rajah & Tann’s efforts in flexi-work arrangements.”

Melisa Goh, Associate Director, Knowledge & Risk Management, agreed: “Most working parents can attest to the fact that juggling work and family life successfully is not the easiest thing to do.

“Fortunately for me, Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP was supportive of my decision to have a flexible work arrangement. I am trusted with the autonomy to plan my work schedules so that my work is not affected by my physical absence from the office.”

Rajah & Tann Singapore is part of Rajah & Tann Asia, Southeast Asia’s largest legal services provider with more than 500 lawyers in nine countries in the region.
