Upcoming Launch of GenAI Sandbox 2.0 for SMEs

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (“IMDA“) has announced that the second iteration of the Generative Artificial Intelligence Sandbox for SMEs (“GenAI Sandbox 2.0“) will be launched on 2 December 2024. The GenAI Sandbox 2.0 aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (“SMEs“) experiment, innovate and adopt generative artificial intelligence (“GenAI“) tools in new business areas.

Under the GenAI Sandbox 2.0, successful and eligible applicants will receive up to 50% grant support from IMDA to trial a GenAI solution for three months. IMDA has curated a list of GenAI-powered solutions for SMEs to choose from, spanning the following categories:

  1. Generative Web Design (Marketing & Sales): Prompt-based generation of websites and web layouts;
  1. Virtual Assistants for Customer Engagement Agents (Customer Engagement): Solutions that support human agents in engaging customers (e.g. recommending context-aware replies, scheduling meetings post-call, etc.); and
  1. GenAI for Talent Acquisition/Onboarding (HR Operations): Solutions that support Human Resource personnel in streamlining their recruitment workflows (e.g. generating tailored job descriptions, screening candidates’ resumes, etc.).

The first iteration of the GenAI Sandbox for SMEs was successfully conducted from February 2024 to May 2024, under which SMEs were able to trial a different set of pre-approved GenAI solutions. More than 150 SMEs took part in the GenAI Sandbox 1.0, with approximately 80% of them continuing to use the GenAI solutions after the three-month period.
