EXPERIENCE

Clean Energy and Sustainability

  • Advised a Japanese public multinational corporation on its proposed collaboration with one of the world’s leading designer and builder of storage facilities, tanks and terminals to develop spherical liquefied hydrogen storage tanks in certain regions as part of its long-term strategy to establish global hydrogen supply chains.
  • Advised a consortium of Japanese companies with respect to its pilot project to establish a hydrogen supply chain in Singapore.
  • Advised a Chinese EPC contractor on the drafting and negotiation of an EPC Contract for the development of a 117MWp solar project to be deployed in Jurong Island, Singapore.
  • Advised a Chinese EPC contractor on the drafting and negotiation of an EPC Contract (using FIDIC Silver Book form) for the development of a 50MWp solar project in Jakarta, Indonesia.
  • Advising a joint venture on the supply and offtake agreement for used cooking oil which will be delivered and processed at a facility in Indonesia to produce sustainable aviation fuel.
  • Advised a statutory board on the development and deployment of renewable energy solutions, EV charging infrastructure and other smart technologies in its housing developments in Singapore in partnership with an energy company.
  • Advised a Singapore developer on its deployment of Singapore’s largest floating solar farm in Kranji reservoir.
  • Advised a private equity firm focusing on global infrastructure investments on the preparation of its bid submission to import low-carbon energy generated from solar photovoltaic facilities in Indonesia into Singapore under the Energy Market Authority’s RFP1/2.
  • Advised a private equity firm focusing on global infrastructure investments on its joint venture with a sovereign wealth fund and leading Malaysian engineering company on their development on solar photovoltaic facilities in Malaysia to sell solar energy under Malaysia’s Feed-in-Tariff scheme and potentially export solar energy into Singapore under the Energy Market Authority’s RFP1/2.
  • Advised on the development of a waste-to-energy power plant using biomass supplied by a Singapore chicken farm as feedstock.

Electricity, District Cooling, Water and Other Utilities

  • Advised the sponsor on the development of the first hydrogen-ready 600 MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant in Singapore.
  • Advised an electricity generation licensee in Singapore on the drafting and negotiation of a long-term maintenance and spares supply agreement for its hydrogen-ready power plant.
  • Advised an independent power producer in Zambia on its appointment of an EPC contractor for the 300MW expansion of an existing power plant.
  • Advised an Indonesian conglomerate on its appointment of a consortium of Indonesian and Chinese companies to undertake the development of a 3 x 350MW thermal power plant in Batam, Indonesia on an EPC basis.
  • Advised a subsidiary of one of Indonesia’s biggest conglomerates in its development of a new water treatment plant in Indonesia which will provide an additional 260,000 cubic meters of clean water per day to communities in Jakarta.

LNG, Specialty Gases and Natural Resources

  • Advising an Indonesia company on its development of a high pressure acid leaching smelter plant which will be fully powered by renewable energy sources such as hydropower and solar energy. The plant will process nickel ore into mixed hydroxide precipitate, a key material for EV battery cathodes.
  • Advised one of the largest industrial gas suppliers in the world on a long-term industrial gases supply contract (S$1.4 billion) with one of the largest of the world’s Big Oil companies. The parties co-invested in an integrated facility in Singapore to process a new base oil and fuel as feedstock to produce industrial gases.
  • Advised a leading Indonesian coal mining company on the long-term supply of coal to 2 coal-fired power plants in the Vietnam.
  • Advised a German coal distributor on the long-term coal supply and transport agreement for a 2×1060 MW coal-fired thermal power facility in Vietnam which is developed on a 25 year concession granted by a state-owned electricity company.
  • Advised one of the largest Indonesia coal-miner by production volume and market capitalisation on the drafting of and negotiation on the long term coal supply agreement for a 2×600 MW and 3×660 MW coal-fired power plant in Vietnam which are developed on a 25 year concession.

Master Development / Concession Projects

  • Advised the master developer of ‘One Bangkok’, the largest (US$3.5 billion) private sector property development initiative undertaken in Thailand. Role includes advising the master developer on the awards of concession for the development of waste water treatment plant, electricity distribution network, district cooling plant, recycled water and water distribution facility as well as the supply of ICT services and gas to serve the One Bangkok development.
  • Advised the existing operator of airports in Malaysia on the grant of an exclusive concession to take over, operate, maintain and upgrade an existing co-generation plant which supplies electricity and chilled water to an international airport and other facilities. Role includes advising on the procurement structure, drafting and reviewing the RFP documents, concession agreement, electricity supply agreement, gas supply agreement, chilled water supply agreement and other project documents.
  • Acted on grant of a long term concession for an integrated logistics park and inland water transport jetty-linked dry port in Ngwe Pin Le, Yangon, Myanmar, on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.

Transportation and Green Mobility

  • Advised a land transportation authority on the tender in relation to the concession to install, operate and maintain up to 60,000 EV charging stations in public car parks in Singapore and provide EV charging services.
  • Advised a land transportation authority on the restructuring of the concession granted to a concessionaire to operate and maintain a rapid transit system and buses in Singapore.
  • Advised a land transportation authority on the tender in relation to the operation and maintenance of 2 new mass rapid transit lines in Singapore.
  • Advised a land transportation authority on the tender in relation to the concession to operate advertising businesses in road assets, train assets and bus assets in Singapore.
  • Advised a leading multi-modal transport operator listed on the Singapore Exchange on the drafting of contract templates for the deployment of EV charging services under various commercial models.

Construction

  • Advised an American technology conglomerate on its S$1.4 billion investment to construct its first Asian data centre in Singapore, including the appointment of its general contractor and other professional consultants involved in the design and build of the 170,000 square metre facilities located at Tanjong Kling.
  • Advised the joint venture between a Singaporean telecommunications conglomerate and an Australian multinational construction company on the S$3 billion redevelopment of an iconic landmark in Orchard Road, Singapore.
  • Advised the Singapore subsidiary of a German multinational technology conglomerate on the design and build contract (using a Singapore standard form) for the development of a S$200 million manufacturing facility for its industrial automation and digitalization products.
