Rajah & Tann Singapore and Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers, member firms of Rajah & Tann Asia, are pleased to share the successful resolution of a significant cross-border matter, achieved through close collaboration between our teams in Singapore and Vietnam.
On 9 February 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and Vietnam Waste Solutions Co., Ltd. (VWS), a U.S. investor, executed a Settlement Agreement that brought to a close their long-running differences arising from contractual arrangements in relation to the Da Phuoc Waste Treatment Project in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The matter was formally commenced at SIAC but was ultimately resolved through a settlement at the Vietnam Mediation Center, where the parties worked constructively with experienced mediators and experts to reach an amicable outcome.
This positive resolution reflects the strong goodwill and cooperative efforts of all parties involved, including the investor and the relevant local governmental authorities. It also underscores the growing recognition of mediation and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms as effective tools for resolving complex commercial disputes efficiently.
Partners Sim Chee Siong, Foo Xian Fong and Matthew Koh from Rajah & Tann Singapore worked closely with Dr Chau Huy Quang, Managing Partner, Logan Leung, Deputy Managing Partner, and Khoa Quach, Senior Counsel, of Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers, to advise VWS throughout the proceedings and negotiations.
