Launch of Singapore’s Digital Enterprise Blueprint and Other AI Initiatives

The Digital Enterprise Blueprint (“DEB“) was launched at Asia Tech x Singapore 2024 on 29 May 2024 by Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information. This initiative aims to accelerate digital transformation and empower Singaporean enterprises by leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (“AI“). 50 thousand small and medium-sized enterprises (“SMEs“) are expected to benefit over the next five years from the new DEB through four key focus areas:

(a)  Empowering enterprises to be smarter by adopting AI-enabled solutions;

(b)  Enabling enterprises to scale faster through cloud-based and integrated solutions;

(c)  Equipping enterprises to be safer through improved cyber resilience; and

(d)  Supporting enterprises to upskill workers to make full use of digital capabilities.

The following initiatives were also announced:

(a)  Refreshing Industry Digital Plans (“IDPs”). The Infocomm Media Development Authority (“IMDA“) will refresh the IDPs to incorporate AI-enabled solutions. IDPs are roadmaps for enterprises which highlight solutions that meet specific needs of the sector.

(b)  Launch of SGTech Apprenticeship. SGTech will launch the Tech Apprenticeship Programme to expand the career pathways of graduates by providing access to industry apprenticeships.

(c)  Development of GPT-Legal. IMDA and the Singapore Academy of Law signed a Memorandum of Understanding to uplift the productivity of the legal sector through the use of generative AI, which includes the development of GPT-Legal, a new large language model which is to be contextualised for Singapore’s legal sector.

(d)  Ignition AI Accelerator. Tribe and Digital Industry Singapore announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to launch the Ignition AI Accelerator for local and global AI startups to create and bring to market the next wave of advancement in AI solutions.
