Rajah & Tann Singapore Contributes to IPBA Journal: “The Constructive Role and Challenges of Litigators in the New Landscape: Achieving Justice and Sensible Outcomes in the Face of Multiple and Parallel Proceedings”

Rajah & Tann Singapore has contributed an article titled “The Constructive Role and Challenges of Litigators in the New Landscape: Achieving Justice and Sensible Outcomes in the Face of Multiple and Parallel Proceedings” to the September 2026 issue of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) Journal.

In cross-border business, a single project or investment frequently involves an intricate network of contracts, each with its own governing law and dispute resolution mechanism. Such arrangements can give rise to disputes in several jurisdictions at once. Authored by Partner Matthew Koh from the International Arbitration Practice, the article examines the challenges in multiple or parallel proceedings, with reference to recent decisions of the Singapore courts and courts in other jurisdictions. The article highlights the constructive role litigators can play in navigating these complexities to achieve just and sensible outcomes, including through alternative dispute resolution, and advance the interests of their clients.

The article serves as a useful guide for practitioners and businesses looking to manage cross-border disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.
